What is BOTOX?
BOTOX is a prescription medication used to temporarily improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the upper half of the face, typically the frown lines between the eyebrows.
How does BOTOX work?
Facial expressions such as frowning and squinting cause furrowing of the brow and folds in the skin. As we age, the skin loses elasticity, and the lines created by these facial expressions become more noticeable and persistent.
BOTOX is injected into muscle to temporarily relax the muscles, preventing the muscle contractions that cause these wrinkle-inducing facial expressions. The result is a temporary reduction of the frown lines between the eyebrows.
Is BOTOX right for me?
BOTOX is appropriate for adults with moderate to severe glabellar lines (wrinkles between the eyebrows). Do not use BOTOX if you are allergic to botulinum toxin or if you have a skin infection at the injection site. An in-office consult is required prior to injections. At that time, a health history will be taken and your goals will be discussed. One of our specialists will discuss the most beneficial treatment in an effort to assist you in achieving your goals. Your injections may be administered during the consult visit or an appointment will be scheduled.
Will I see results immediately?
With BOTOX injections, results are fully evident within 3-4 days to one week after treatment, and results typically last about 3 months.
Are BOTOX injections covered by my insurance?
BOTOX injections are strictly voluntary cosmetic procedures and therefore not reimbursable by government or private health care insurers.
